Free concerts of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music in the ruins of Dvigrad, starting August 31, 2025.
Time Travel Through Music at Dvigrad Festival
Held in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the medieval town of Dvigrad, this festival focuses on historically informed performances of music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. Concerts often take place by candlelight or in acoustically rich stone churches and ruins, creating a mystical, immersive experience.
The opening concert on August 31 takes place in the Basilica of St. Sophia, followed by a program that stretches into September and October. The performers, often internationally renowned, use period instruments and techniques, offering a rare chance to hear how this music might have sounded centuries ago.
What sets Dvigrad apart is not just the quality of the music but the setting. Located inland from Rovinj, Dvigrad is a semi-abandoned site, full of legends, overgrown walls, and atmosphere, turning each concert into a journey through time.
